DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

NCPC will assist independent (KJV) Baptist church plants/planters. NCPC will not assist a church planter without a recommendation from their sending church and pastor (Acts 13:1-3; 14:26; 15:40).

The acrostic for “BAPTISTS” outlines eight important doctrines that typically define independent Baptists.

B – BIBLICAL AUTHORITY. The Bible is the verbally inspired and infallible, authoritative Word of God; therefore it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Furthermore, we believe that God has preserved His Word so that we might have His standard by which to live for His glory. (Matthew 24:35; 2Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2Peter 1:19–21.)

A – AUTONOMY OF THE CHURCH. An autonomous church is a self-governing local church. We believe that every local church should be independent of a hierarchy, or a mediating board of high ranking officers. The government of a church includes the headship of Jesus Christ, the authority of the Scriptures, the administration of the Holy Spirit, a pastor (shepherd, overseer), servant deacons, and the membership of the local church. (Mt 18:15-20; Acts 6, 13–14, 20:19–30; Eph 1:22–23; Col 1:18; 1Ti 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9; 1Pe 5:1-4.)

P – PRIESTHOOD OF THE BELIEVER. We believe in the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our High Priest and through Him every believer in Christ has direct access into God’s presence. Every believer has the right and responsibility to worship the Lord, to study the Scriptures, and to come boldly to the throne of Grace for help in time of need. (Jn 14:26, 16:13; 1Co 2:6-16; 1Ti 2:5; 2Ti 2:15; He 4:14-16, 6:20, 7:17-28; Pe 1:19-21; 1Pe 2:2; 1Pe 2:9 2).

T – TWO OFFICES. The Bible speaks of two (2) specific church offices. One, the office of a pastor whose duties include leading, teaching, watching, and protecting at the direction of the Lord and the Scriptures. The office of deacons who assist the pastor in the oversight of the flock. These two offices must be filled by qualified men. (Php 1:1; Acts 6:1–7; 1Ti 3:1–13; Titus 1:6–9; 1Pe 5:1–4.)

I – INDIVIDUAL SOUL LIBERTY. Every individual, whether a believer or a non-believer has the liberty to choose what they want to believe or what their conscience persuades them to do or not to do, however, this liberty or a free will does not exempt anyone from being accountable to God therefore, “we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” (Ro 14:4-12; 2Co 4:2; Lk 19:11-27).

S – SAVED AND BAPTIZED CHURCH MEMBERSHIP. Redemption was purchased by the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ, therefore, salvation is the gift of God. Salvation is a decision of repentance or a conscious decision to turn from unbelief to faith in Jesus Christ to receive His gift of eternal salvation. (Jn 3:1-18; Acts 2; Ro 3:19-26, 6:23; Ga 2:17-21; Eph 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7). Baptism is an act of obedience. The Greek language implies to dip or immerse. Immersion represents Christ’s death and resurrection. Scriptural Baptism is a testimony of a new life in Christ, a life now dead to sin and alive unto God. The membership of a local church, according to the pattern set forth in the Book of Acts, is comprised of born-again believers in Jesus Christ who have been biblically baptized. (Mt 3:16-17; Acts 2:37-47, 8:26-39; Ro 6)

T – TWO ORDINANCES. The church has been authorized not only to preach the Gospel, but to administrate the two local church ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Table. These ordinances have no part in salvation. The Baptism of believers is by immersion in water. Baptism is a testimony of faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is a declaration of a changed life, dead to sin and alive unto God, to walk in newness of life. The Lord’s Supper commemorates the Lord’s broken body and shed blood. The administration of the Lord’s Table is a time of communion as believers reflect on what the elements of the Supper represent. (Mt 28:19; 1Co 11:23–26; Acts 2:38–43, 8:36–38; Ro 6:1–6)

S – SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. We believe in the Separation of Church and State; that God has ordained both, and has delegated authority to each; the authority of one must not interfere with the other; however, this does not mean that the State is to be non-religious nor does it mean that the church and its members are not be involved in the political processes of this nation (Mt 16:18, 18:15-20; Ro 13:1-7; Acts 2: 1-11, 41-47; Eph 2:1-6).
