Regarding the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13, the difference between the first 3 grounds and the good ground that produced life, growth, and fruit is “understanding.” Compare verse 19 with verse 23. The parable is the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy (Is 6:9-10) quoted in verses 14-15. Verses 14-15 explains why Israel as a nation rejected Christ. They rejected Christ because they failed to see, hear, and understand the Scriptures which led to indifference, unbelief, and rejection. Though many Jews were saved, preaching to the nation in that day was like sowing seed by the wayside. Like Philip in Acts 8:30-31, we must guide (lead, teach, guide as a teacher) sinners to an understanding of Jesus Christ and why they need to be saved.
Acts 8:30-31, And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.”
